Women's Gold Wedding Rings

Gold wedding bands for women, made to order in our Adelaide studio in 9kt and 14kt yellow gold, or 18kt if you want the deepest colour. Everything below comes from our women's wedding rings collection, shown here in yellow gold. If you would rather try widths and karats on your own hand before deciding, book a studio or virtual appointment first.

Matching a gold wedding ring to your engagement ring

The profile comes first, because it determines whether the band sits flush against your engagement ring. Colour and karat come after that.

A low or flush setting takes a straight band, which meets it cleanly with nothing more needed. Raised and claw settings are more likely to leave a gap between the two rings. The setting lifts the centre stone above the band, so a straight wedding ring can leave a gap underneath, sometimes large enough to see daylight through. A fitted band closes that gap by following the line of the setting. Shaped engagement rings, where the band itself curves or twists, need a band made specifically to them.

Colour matters, and so does karat. 9kt and 18kt yellow gold read at noticeably different depths when they sit side by side, because the alloy mixed with the gold changes with the karat. Matching the colour alone can leave two different shades of yellow sitting side by side, so it is worth matching both the colour and the karat. If your ring needs a shaped band, our custom wedding rings are made to the profile of the ring you already own, whether we made it or not. The same designs can be made in white gold or rose gold if yellow is not your direction.

Women's gold wedding ring styles: plain bands, diamond-set and eternity

The yellow gold grid covers four broad families. Plain bands come in half-round and knife-edge profiles, the half-round softer, the knife-edge slimmer on the finger. Diamond-set bands come as half sets and full sets, and the difference matters later: a half set leaves a plain section at the back that can be cut and rejoined to resize, while a full set carries diamonds the whole way round and has very little room to move. Our diamond wedding rings collection shows the full range of settings.

Curved and fitted bands, such as the Curve design, are shaped to sit against a raised setting. Eternity rings take the full-set idea further and are often worn as a third band. The Lottie Statement Diamond Ring creates a bolder look without a full circle of stones. If you plan to stack two or three bands, say so at the fitting. Bands worn tight together sit differently, and sizing has to account for the whole stack.

Made to order in our Adelaide studio

Our studio is at 148 King William Road, Hyde Park, and every Harry & Co band is finished there before it goes out. A custom piece takes 4 to 6 weeks. Ready-to-ship designs from the Shop take 2 to 4 weeks. Sizing is handled at a consultation in the studio or with a complimentary ring sizer posted to you, and our guide on how to find your ring size covers measuring at home. You can add engraving. Engagement and wedding rings carry a limited lifetime warranty from the date of completion.

Complimentary servicing covers inspection, cleaning, polishing and stone tightening. Returns for a full refund or exchange are accepted within 30 days, provided the ring is returned in its original condition, and we supply a pre-paid return envelope. Size exchanges work the same way within that 30-day period, where the design allows. We are appointment only, and virtual appointments are available if you cannot get to Adelaide. Interstate clients order online and we send the ring tracked, 3 to 5 business days after dispatch. For a full custom build, how our custom design process works sets out the stages.

What a women's gold wedding ring costs at Harry & Co

Karat has the biggest influence on the price of a yellow gold band, since 18kt carries more gold than 9kt, and width does the same because a wider band uses more metal. After that it is the diamonds: a plain band costs less than a diamond-set one, and a half set costs less than a full set of the same design. Shaped and fitted bands are priced individually, made to the profile of your ring rather than a standard curve.

Afterpay is available on purchases up to $2,000, which covers the entry-level designs in this collection rather than most of the range. On diamond-set designs you can also choose lab-grown diamonds, graded by IGI or GIA. They usually come in up to around 30% below the mined equivalent. Those designs are grouped in lab-grown wedding rings.

Book your wedding ring appointment

Widths and karats look different on your hand than they do on a screen. Book a studio or virtual appointment and try a few against your engagement ring before committing to anything. Profiles are worth testing at the same time, since a knife-edge and a half-round in the same width sit differently on the finger. If you already know what you want, order from the grid above and we will send it tracked anywhere in Australia. You can also call us on (08) 7119 8939 or email care@harryandcojewellery.com.au.

Frequently Asked Questions

What gold wedding ring suits a raised engagement ring?

A fitted or curved band. It is cut to follow the underside of your setting so the two rings meet without a gap, in the same karat and colour as your set.

Should my gold wedding ring be the same karat as my engagement ring?

Ideally, yes. Gold colour comes from the alloy mixed with it, so 9kt yellow reads paler and slightly cooler than 18kt yellow, and the difference shows most where the two bands touch.

Can a diamond-set gold wedding ring be resized?

A half set usually can, because the plain section at the back can be cut and rejoined without disturbing stones. A full set is limited, sometimes impossible; our ring sizing and resizing policy sets out the detail.

Should I wear my gold wedding ring above or below my engagement ring?

The convention is below, closest to your hand, because the wedding ring is traditionally put on first. In practice, comfort and fit decide, and plenty of clients wear theirs above.

Can you make a gold wedding ring to fit my existing engagement ring?

Yes, including rings we did not make. Our custom wedding rings service covers the options, from a gentle curve to a fully shaped band. We take the profile from the ring itself, so book an appointment and bring it in.

How long does a made-to-order gold wedding ring take?

Custom bands take 4 to 6 weeks. Ready-to-ship designs from the Shop take 2 to 4 weeks, and delivery adds 3 to 5 business days after dispatch.

Can I stack two gold wedding rings?

Yes, and plenty of clients do. Two bands worn tight together take up more room on the finger than one, so we size the set together rather than separately.
